1ST TIME US DISINVITES CHINA TO JOIN PACIFIC RIM MILITARY EXERCISES DUE TO ISSUES IN SOUTH CHINA SEA

For the first time the Unites State-Pentagon has withdrawn its invitation to the Chinese Navy to join the 2018 Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) military exercises due to the aggressive reclamation of territories and militarization of the South China Sea.

The extensive claims of China brought this contested sea area and land mass in chaos. SCS also claimed by Vietnam, China and Philippines.

Chinese state councilor and foreign minister Wang Yi reacted that the US decision was “non-constructive.” and expressed their regret about RIMPAC withdrawal.

RIMPAC is the largest gathering of world’s largest international maritime exercise held every two years in Hawaii in June and July.
