OMBUDSMAN SUSPENDS BOHOL MAYOR FOR NOT DECLARING HIS WIFE'S INCOME FOR 3 YEARS








The Office of the Ombudsman has suspended Bohol Mayor Danilo Guivencan for not declaring his wife's income, its business interest in his Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALNs) for three straight years from 2010 - 2012. Thus, Ombudsman found
Guivencan guilty of simple neglect of duty and ordered his suspension for one month and one day.

Guivencan claimed that they declared the missing years into 2013 and admitted that he failed to pay attention to the details of his SALNs that was prepared by his office staff.

The Ombudsman noted that Section 8 of the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees (Republic Act No. 6713) requires all public officials and employees to accomplish a statement under oath showing their assets, liabilities and net worth and financial and business interests every year.
