SOTTO, ESCUDERO refuses to support Coalition of Justice calls to suspend Quo Warranto in the Senate

Senate Majority Leader Vicente "Tito" Sotto and Sen. Francis Escudero immediately scrapped the call of  Coalition for Justice (CFJ) to suspend the Quo Warranto proceedings in the Senate against Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno and denied the intention of the movement since no appeal yet appeared before the House of the Senate.

Coalition for Justice (CFJ) initiated and sent the letter to senators. Some of its members also went to the Senate to personally deliver the letter to the offices of senators.

In a text message, Escudero give a response, “No. The House has not yet even impeached her. There is no impeachment case before the Senate to even speak of. It would be presumptuous, to say the least, for the Senate to assume that one will indeed be filed sometime in the future against CJ Sereno,” said Escudero.

CFJ’s call got the backing of the minority bloc senators: Drilon, Pangilinan, Aquino, Trillanes IV, Hontiveros and de Lima.
