WHY DRILON wants CHIEF JUSTICE DE CASTRO TO INHIBIT from all political pending cases?

Opposition and Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon urged the new Supreme Court Chief Justice Teresita De Castro to inhibit from all pending cases amid the question of her immediate take over in the high court after she favored Maria Lourdes Sereno to be ousted in SC through Quo Warranto.

“All questions, issues, and doubts surrounding the appointment of Chief Justice Teresita Leonardo de Castro,

particularly with regard to her impartiality, can only be addressed if the newly-appointed chief magistrate refrains from participating in any political case pending before the court,” Drilon said, asking further De Castro to lift the integrity of SC's decision over politically charged suits.

De Castro, will only have 41 days to assume the office as she will reach the mandatory retirement age of 70 on Oct. 8.
